Global Summer Research Institute (GSRI)
Build your graduate school resume at Virginia Tech’s premier research laboratory.

Designed to build experience for application to graduate school, this 10-week intensive summer program will immerse participants in a team science research project with one or more research groups at the Virginia Bioinformatics Institute (VBI). Participants will work in an integrated interdisciplinary team. In addition to research activities, there will be an opportunity to participate in workshops on leadership, presentation skills, team building, and writing skills. Participants will have the opportunity to interact with others who are also participating in summer research programs at VBI. They will also give a presentation at the end of the summer at the VBI Summer Undergraduate Research Symposium. In addition to a certificate of participation and a letter of recommendation from their sponsoring professor, program participants will leave the program with a poster based on their research that they can use at their home institution or for conference presentations.
